SLU Roller hockey began
in 1998. After a few rocky seasons, the team rebounded and began to rebuild.
With the help of new coach Dan Hurt and an energetic and talented freshman
class, the team turned a 2-18 record from the 2000-2001 season into a
14-9 record in the 01-02 season and a 2nd place finish in the Regional
Championships. The team received an invite to the National Champioship
Tournament, but failed to win any games. The following year, the team
continued to improve to a record of 18-2 and won the Regional Championship.
Also this season, the team finished 7th at the National Championship Tournament.
In the 03-04 season, the team continued their success. They finished the
season with a 18-4 record and took 2nd place in the Regional Tournament
defeating the eventual national champion UMSL team 4-0 along the way.
Once again the team played in the National Championship and finished 8th
after a disappointing elimination.
